When we humans yearn to re-balance our energy and our deeper spirit\, we can find sanctuary in the natural world\, but also in movement\, in silent contemplation. Or\, we can celebrate the Divine spark of sound. Using the gift of our own voice\, our physical presence and our breath\, we can rekindle the age- old traditions of prayer and chant. Sound has mysterious restorative qualities\, and we discover even more so\, when we participate in expressing sound ourselves. This expands when we join together in common with others. In sound\, we can draw closer to our Divine origins. Come and taste a special opportunity to shift your state through embodied prayer and chant. This weekly meeting offers practices that have a powerful capacity to move our energy. Both spoken Sufi chants and sung chants more widely from the Abrahamic tradition will be offered. Each meeting will consist of a teaching drawn from the writings from various Sufi masters and teachers\, including Sidi al Jamal and Hazrat Inayat Khan\, among others. Her grandmother initiated her into the culture and traditions of the Middle East where belly-dancing played a major part as an expression of the world of the feminine. \nFawzia Al-Rawi holds a PhD in Islamic studies. She completed her Arabic\, Islamic and ethnological studies at the Universities of Vienna and Cairo. She then spent 12 years in Jerusalem where she brought up her children and worked at the Institute for the Promotion of Palestinian Agriculture and at the University of Jerusalem\, while deepening both her theoretical and practical knowledge of Sufism under the guidance of Sidi Shaykh Muhammad Al-Rifai. She has been living in Vienna with her husband and their three children since 2001. \nFawzia Al-Rawi has been a Sufi teacher and spiritual guide for over 30 years. She combines classical Islamic spirituality with inner healing work. Her work is characterized by depth\, clarity and a quiet\, transformative presence. She holds workshops in various countries and works particularly with women. When we humans yearn to re-balance our energy and our deeper spirit\, we can find sanctuary in the natural world\, but also in movement\, in silent contemplation. Or\, we can celebrate the Divine spark of sound. Using the gift of our own voice\, our physical presence and our breath\, we can rekindle the age- old traditions of prayer and chant. Sound has mysterious restorative qualities\, and we discover even more so\, when we participate in expressing sound ourselves. This expands when we join together in common with others. In sound\, we can draw closer to our Divine origins. Come and taste a special opportunity to shift your state through embodied prayer and chant. This weekly meeting offers practices that have a powerful capacity to move our energy. Both spoken Sufi chants and sung chants more widely from the Abrahamic tradition will be offered. Each meeting will consist of a teaching drawn from the writings from various Sufi masters and teachers\, including Sidi al Jamal and Hazrat Inayat Khan\, among others. There will be a time for brief individual sharing. Each class will focus on the hearts of its participants\, offering chants to strengthen their own spiritual journey. This book is widely available. She may also may quote other Quality books as we go deeper. In the new class on the Divine Names\, Maryam Shamsa Jennie Woodard will teach and guide us through these essential divine qualities and help us uncover the Divine essence within us. The class format includes: time to more deeply connect with the Divine and our own heartsreading about the Divine Namesreceiving the energetic transmission of each quality and reciting ita forgiveness practice that returns our human/ego qualities and replaces them with the Divine Qualitiesabsorbing\, merging\, and becoming the QualitiesThe plan is to study for 52 weeks\, allowing for some breaks to make room for life. It may be more realistic to say we will complete the Names in 60 weeks. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About the Teacher \n \n \n \n Maryam Shamsa Jennie Woodard \n \n \n \n Maryam Shamsa’s heart was awakened with love\, peace and well being when she learned the Sufi practice of Remembrance in 2003. In 2005 she began attending classes in the University of Spiritual Healing and has been a student of Sufism since. Maryam is currently a teacher for the Institute of Spiritual Healing and a Master Healer.She finds very little more gratifying than sitting with another person in their inner landscape and looking where God is at every turn:“If I can help you open the places where you stop yourself from receiving the Light and Love that the Divine has just for you\, then we will have done something. Love is everything.” Maryam is a wife\, mother and grandmother.
