Rumi and Finding Spiritual Guidance in Dystopian America

January 19 @ 7:00 pm - January 21 @ 4:00 pm

For the first time in Minnesota, we welcome renowned and beloved Sufi teacher Dr. Alan Abd al-Haqq Godlas:

Rumi and Finding Guidance in Dystopian America
with Dr. Alan Abd al-Haqq Godlas

Friday, January 19th – Sunday, January 21st

Centuries before the uncertain and unquiet times we find ourselves in today, there lived a Sufi mystic, teacher, poet and holy man by the name of Jalaladin Rumi. Living in the city of Konya, present day Turkey, in the 13th century, Rumi’s world was also one of warfare and uncertainty. It was in this environment that Rumi taught and wrote poetry proclaiming the Unity of humanity, the oneness of all religions and the Divine Essence that lives in us all. Teachings so profound and powerful that they resonate to this day. Rumi was a most beautiful example of a Sufi, those dedicated to the opening of the heart, living the Truth of the Soul and welcoming all without distinction or separation to the ‘caravanseri’ we call life.

For over a thousand years the Sufis have been the creators and preservers of learning, art, music, poetry and spiritual understanding. Their wisdom has been kept alive from person to person as a beacon of hope for the realization of the spiritual birthright of people everywhere.

Dr. Alan Abd al-Haqq Godlas comes to us as one in a long lineage of such teachers. He has the unique distinction of not only being a respected scholar and University professor, he also carries the inner wisdom of the Sufi, the wisdom of the heart which expresses itself in the beauty, compassion and depth of his understanding and teaching.

His teachings are for anyone who is yearning for a taste of the beauty and freedom that come from a deep knowledge of your heart and your everlasting connection to the One Source and ways to live from that understanding in a world with seemingly little if any solid ground.

We invite you to join us as we learn about the Sufi way of spiritual realization. Sufi teachings consist of centuries old formulas for opening the heart to the Divine Knowledge of who we are and traveling through the stations of the self, the heart, the soul and the secret. All are welcome, we make no separation. Sufism is a path of attraction, not conversion. Come and discover whether the attraction of your heart is calling you. Minnesota Shadhiliyya Sufi Community.

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field, I’ll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about”  – Jalaladin Rumi
